May 19** Program
by Linda Cantrell
“Mistakes and How to Overcome Them"
(**note change in meeting schedule -
3rd Monday because of Memorial Day)
Linda Cantrell takes a humorous look at mistakes she has
made or problems she’s encountered making quilts and then
explains how she got around those problems. In addition to
the quilts Linda brings to discuss, she encourages us to
bring our own “problem quilts”—ones where we ran out of
fabric, cut a hole, spilled something on it or one that was
just wrong from the start—so that we can laugh at them as
well.

Happy Birthday
to MMQG!

Max Barlow, our
Guild Historian, discovered that 24 years ago on Friday, April
13th, 20 ladies met and formed the Misty Mountain Quilter's
Guild. Evie Greene, one of the original members and a former
president, was at Monday's meeting. Max and Sally Barker had a
birthday for the guild and Evie blew out he candles - 24 of
them. Now that we know this we hope to do something special
next year for our 25th birthday.

2009 Quilt
Retreat Plans
February 9 - 12, 2009
Unicoi State Park Lodge
Helen, GA

The 2009 Retreat
planning committee of Nancy Donegan, Diane Remsen and Margaret
have been considering ways to improve upon our quilt retreat.
Particular concerns have been finding ways to increase the
number who can attend and developing an "equal opportunity" for
members to register.
It was decided the best, and most economical, location for the
2009 MMQG Quilt Retreat is Unicoi State Park Lodge sy Hrlrn, GA. The MMQG
Executive Board has approved this recommendation and now we
need your help.
In order to confirm this date at Unicoi we need to make a
deposit soon. Thus, we need a commitment and small deposit,
from members planning to attend. We need at least 50 members to
register with a $20 deposit by June 30th. There should actually
be room for at least 72 people to attend, maybe more, depending
about classes. Additional monies will
be handled closer to the retreat time.
The procedure for registration has changed, so please read
the registration form carefully.
1. Reservations will be taken only by mail sent to our MMQG
post office box.
2. Reservations must be postmarked NO EARLIER than May 8th and
NO LATER than June 30th to assure you a place in the 2009
retreat.
3. The post office box will be checked daily and reservations
numbered as they are received.
The 2009 Retreat Registration can be found by clicking on this
link 2009
ReTreat Form. Once you have the form, print it off and follow the
instructions carefully.
